The inspiration for my paintings comes from nature. I am interested in finding ways of describing the extraordinary moment, the time you come around the corner and are struck by wonder. I would like you to feel as if you could step into the painting, sense the space, see the colour and be transported.

I live in an old paper mill in Hertfordshire and my early walks by the river are the start to my day, taking a sketchbook and pockets full of crayons and inks.
I sketch down what I see, the light in the leaves, the colour on the water, the curving forms of the birds or a fox dashing by. Whether I am painting in situ in a landscape or in my studio this exercise allows me to feel my way into my paintings. |

I like to use any media, inks, water colour, oil pastels and acrylics. Any tool that comes to hand, pens, brushes, sometimes my fingers or a stick, splashing on beautiful colour and trying to infuse the painting with light, space and feeling.
